The BC Bravo is no ordinary lead acid battery charger. It is also capable of testing the battery and the battery charging system.
The Bravo is fully automated to keep your battery in top shape while the bike is not in use with a fully automated 8 cycles charge and maintenance program. Moreover, it is capable of testing the alternator or regulator to ensure the charging system on the bike is giving a regular voltage; a degrading alternator or regulator is one of the top reasons for battery failure.
Replacement adaptors are also available separately as spares.
Keeping the battery well maintained is key to battery performance and working life. For all its features the Bravo doesn't have any complicated settings. For charging, simply connect the charger to the mains power socket, then connect to the battery with the clamps or eyelet cable provided in the box. The onboard microprocessor will begin the fully automatic 8-cycles charge and continue to maintain the battery for as long as it is connected. Every 30 days, an equalisation charge will kick in to ensure that the cells remain balanced and that the electrolyte does not begin to separate.
The LCD screen displays which charging cycle is currently active, and any errors (such as the battery not holding charge during the end cycle test)
To test the battery and charging system, simply connect the Bravo to the battery without connecting it to the mains. This will begin testing mode. The Bravo will automatically begin the follwing test procedue with instructions for the user being displayed on the LCD screen:
The Recovery and Desulphation cycles on the Bravo can recover discharged or sulphated batteries from as low as 1.5V
Initialization | Checks if one or more cells are shorted to verify if the battery is in a proper condition to be recharged/recovered. |
---|---|
Recovery | If the battery is deep discharged (voltage starting from 1.5V) the device tries to recover it, taking it back to a higher voltage. |
Soft Charge | Provides a light pulsing current to the battery to overcome significant undercharge. |
Bulk Charge | Provides full current to the battery, recovring 85-90% of the battery capacity. |
Desulfation/Absorbtion | Provides a 'controlled overcharge' to recover the remaining 10-15% of battery capacity, through the desulfation/recovery of the lead acid cells (for low to medium sulfation). |
Battery Analysis - End Cycle Test | Stops providing current to the battery for a short time, to verify that the battery is able to retain charge. This is periodically repeated during maintenance. |
Maintenance | Keeps the battery in the best charge conditions for long periods (even months) while the vehicle is unused, without allowing overcharge, overheat, water or electrolyte. |
Equalization | Every 30 days during long term maintenance, the device executes an equalization charge in order the balance the battery lead-acid cells, avoiding electrolyte stratification within the cells. |
Active guard mechanisms make it easy to install and use the Bravo, even for users without experience;
Connect and Forget: It is safe to leave the Bravo charger connected to the battery for months at a time, such as over the winter.
With EURO Plug. BC Bravo 1500 is the most complete and effective solution for users which need a single product for the maintenance of both car and motorcycle batteries, featuring a multi-language LCD display, digital voltmeter and dual function of battery charger and tester of the battery and the vehicle's charging system. BC Bravo 1500 is ideal for the recovery, charge, desulfation, maintenance and analysis of all 12V batteries and it can be left always connected to the battery, with no risk and no need to disconnect the battery from the vehicle, keeping it fully charged during long periods of inactivity (even months). The battery charger delivers a maximum current of 1.5 Amps and runs a fully automatic 8-cycles charging algorithm, to recover deeply discharged batteries (from 1.25 volts) and to recharge, desulfate and maintain all 12V batteries (traditional, gel, sealed...) from 3 to 70 Ah (up to 100 Ah for maintenance). The automatic testing procedure, guided step-by-step by the instructions on the LCD display, includes an analysis of the battery State of Charge, a battery Cranking Power test and a test of the vehicle's charging system (alternator/regulator). BC Bravo 1500 does not produce sparks and it is protected against short circuit, reverse polarity, overcharging and overheating. The package includes a waterproof battery cable with eyelets (code STD2V), which can be left always installed on the vehicle, and a battery cable with insulated clamps (code 30AMPPZ). A universal 12/18 mm adapter (code ACC612V - optional) is available to recharge the battery from the cigarette lighter. The warranty is extended to 3 years.
